PROJECTS
Lahaina Bypass - Bob Pure
Work in cooperation with the State Dept. of Transportation to monitor the progress of all Phases of the Lahaina Bypass. Act as a liaison between the community and the SDOT. Report monthly on the progress of the Bypass.

Traffic Management - Bob Pure
Continue to work with the State and the County to improve traffic flow in West Maui. Focus on the efficiency of the traffic lights, intersections and overall traffic flow. Communicate needs and suggestions of the local community to State and County officials. Report monthly on the progress of all ongoing traffic projects.

Alternative Roads - Chad Fukunaga & Rory Franpton
Kuhua Street Extension: Report on the progress of the design and entitlement of the project. Discuss the function and elements of the project with the LBN team for feedback to the project consultants.

Public Transit - Carol Reimann
Continue to monitor and report to team members issues relating to Maui County’s public transit system wide. Work with County DOT in monitory ridership count after new rates take effect July 1, 2010.

Affordable Housing - David Furguson
Identify proposed West Maui Residential Housing Projects. List total number of units to be built and unit configuration(s). Number of Affordable units. Track the status of entitlements received and entitlements needed to begin construction of the project. Track anticipated timeline for construction. Provide a Monthly update of progress in obtaining entitlements and timelines.

Bikeways and Walkways - Don Lehman
Work with hotel properties, the County and the State to develop a continuous, all-weather walkway from 505 Front Street to Honokawai as a recreational facility and an alternative to vehicular traffic. This includes a promotional map to increase awareness and use of the facility.

Draft a West Maui Greenway Plan to develop an off-the-highway bicycle trail system for recreational use and as an alternative to vehicle use. This plan is shared with all development and government projects in West Maui to encourage its incorporation into any projects that may provide portions of or connection to the Greenway.

Government Relations - Stacie Thorlakson
LBN works well with elected officials and state or county employees to accomplish our project goals. We are involved with state bills and county ordinances to support or propose issues that may reflect LBN's mission.
