Lahaina Bypass Now (LBN) is a community-based organization dedicated to creating a better quality of life for Maui’s residents and visitors. With a community-inclusive approach, LBN is committed to providing a multi-faceted approach to transportation solutions. LBN continues to collaborate with the entire community, including the Maui Mayor and County Council, state Department of Transportation, West Maui State Legislators, local businesses and concerned residents.
Over three decades ago – with a growing population of residents and visitors in West Maui – the need for a road that would bypass Lahaina Town, to alleviate local traffic in the area was identified. After years of talk about the bypass, planning delays and very little progress, 100 frustrated residents banded together one night in March 2006 to get answers. “Where is our bypass? We want it NOW!” the crowd exclaimed. This meeting marked the beginning of Lahaina Bypass Now (LBN).
Through our transparent process and community-inclusive approach, LBN is developing solid, community-based data and consensus upon which broad transportation policies are established and real transportation projects are built.
VisionLahaina Bypass Now’s vision is to create a better quality of life for West Maui residents – as well as residents and visitors island-wide – both now, and in the future, by developing transportation solutions for Maui.
MissionLahaina Bypass Now is committed to accelerating the development of an effective regional transportation system for West Maui through a collaborative, cooperative approach.

- Development of a network of roads
