A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Aloha and Happy New Year! Our January Recap:

The widening of Honoapiilani Highway from Lahainaluna to Aholo Street - from one lane in each direction to two lanes - has now been completed and is open to traffic.

Completed Lahaina Road Widening Project

LBN wants to congratulate Goodfellow Bros. on the professional and speedy way they handled this project. They managed to keep one lane open in each direction throughout the duration of the project, thereby minimizing disruptions and delays, and they completed the project on schedule. A job well done.

We also want to tip the hat to Charlene Shibuya of the Maui division of the state Department of Transportation for her expertise, her persistence and her vision in making this project a reality. It was a team effort that worked.

"Lahaina Bypass Now is a very good example, in Hawaii, of a grass roots community group working in a productive and non-confrontational manner with a State agency such as the Dept. of Transportation, to everyone's benefit"

- Brennon Morioka, Former Director of the State Department of Transportation
